2 killed and 1 injured in an attack on a convoy of MINUSMA contractors

Yesterday evening around 7 pm., a convoy of MINUSMA contractors was attacked by two assailants 15 kilometers west of Gao.

The assailants stopped the convoy and immediately killed the two drivers and subsequently set the trucks on fire.

The other members of the group of contractors, of whom one was injured by bullets, managed to escape. Several contractors have been interviewed in light of the ongoing investigation.

MINUSMA immediately deployed a rapid response force to the site.

MINUSMA strongly condemns this attack upon innocent civilians and will provide all necessary support to arrest and bring those responsible to justice.
