Le Secrétaire général est préoccupé par les progrès limités du dialogue inter-haïtien vers une solution politique durable et inclusive pour restaurer les institutions démocratiques du pays.
 
Le Secrétaire général exprime son plein soutien aux efforts du Groupe de personnalités éminentes de la CARICOM et du BINUH pour faciliter des solutions durables et appropriées par les acteurs nationaux à la crise politique en Haïti.

Il attend avec intérêt la poursuite des préparatifs en vue du déploiement urgent d'un soutien sécuritaire à la police nationale d'Haïti, par le biais d'une mission multinationale d'appui à la sécurité, tel qu'autorisé par la résolution 2699 (2023).
 
Le Secrétaire général souligne l'importance d'un accord sur la restauration des institutions démocratiques – prévoyant des élections crédibles, participatives et inclusives – pour parvenir à un État de droit et à une sécurité durables. Il appelle l'ensemble des acteurs politiques et des parties prenantes en Haïti à se rassembler et à parvenir en priorité à un large consensus.

Statement attributable to the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General – on Haiti, 07 December 2023

The Secretary-General is concerned over the limited progress in the inter-Haitian dialogue towards a lasting and inclusive political solution to restore the country’s democratic institutions.

The Secretary-General extends his full support to the efforts of the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group and to BINUH to facilitate sustainable and nationally-owned solutions to Haiti’s political crisis.

He looks forward to the continued preparations for the deployment of urgently needed security support to the Haitian National Police, through a Multinational Security Support mission, as authorized by resolution 2699 (2023).

The Secretary-General underlines the importance of an agreement on the restoration of democratic institutions - providing for credible, participatory and inclusive elections - to achieving sustainable rule of law and security. He appeals to the full range of political actors and stakeholders in Haiti to come together and reach a broad consensus as a matter of priority.
