Launch of the first phase of Strategic and operational Planning training supported by BINUH and experts from the UN's Standing Police Capacity (SPC), as part of the Basket Fund activities.
Experts from the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations/Police Division Standing Police Capacity (SPC) alongside the BINUH Police advisors kicked off a training aimed at strengthening the Haitian National Police (HNP)'s strategic and operational planning capabilities, on 22 January 2024.
The 10-day in-person capacity-building course, divided in two 5-day cycles with a week's break in between, is delivered to 20-25 senior and mid-level HNP officers involved in the police strategic planning processes. The topics covered include, among others, the planning processes and phases, problem analysis tools, police reform and development, strategy formulation and action plans, project management, monitoring and implementation, and evaluation. Group exercises on practical cases are also planned, particularly on indicators, tools, problem solving and stakeholder analysis.
The second cycle of the training is scheduled from 5 to 9 February 2024. This training is part of the multi-partner programme to support the professionalization of the HNP (basket fund).
