The members of the Security Council were briefed on 6 March by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), María Isabel Salvador, on the situation in Haiti.
Governance

BINUH will work, in an advisory capacity, with the Haitian authorities and the United Nations Country Team in Haiti (composed of 19 agencies, funds and programs) in the area of governance, in particular by:
- Supporting inclusive and comprehensive inter-Haitian dialogue efforts to encourage national consensus on the country’s priorities;
 - Offering advisory expertise to help advance Haitian political, legislative and structural reform priorities;
 - Supporting Haiti’s electoral reform agenda, which includes the adoption of electoral legislation and the installation of a Permanent Electoral Council.
 - Assisting in the reinforcement of the Haitian justice system.
