The Secretary-General takes note of the agreement reached yesterday by Haitian stakeholders on a transitional governance arrangement, including the establishment of a Presidential Council and the appointment of an interim Prime Minister. He also takes note of Prime Minister Ariel Henry’s announcement that he would resign immediately upon the installation of a Transitional Presidential Council.

The Secretary-General expresses appreciation to CARICOM, and other international partners, for facilitating a way forward to resolve Haiti’s political crisis and calls on all Haitian stakeholders to act responsibly and to take steps towards the implementation of the agreement in order to restore the country’s democratic institutions through peaceful, credible, participatory and inclusive elections. The United Nations, through its mission, will continue to support Haiti on its path towards elections.

The Secretary-General reiterates his unwavering solidarity with the people of Haiti who are in need of safety, shelter, food and medical care, and to live their lives in dignity.

Le Secrétaire général prend note de l'accord conclu hier par les parties prenantes haïtiennes sur une entente de gouvernance transitoire, comprenant la mise en place d'un Conseil présidentiel et la désignation d'un Premier ministre par intérim. Il prend également note de l’annonce faite par le Premier ministre Ariel Henry selon laquelle il démissionnera immédiatement après que le Conseil présidentiel de transition aura été institué. 

Le Secrétaire général exprime son appréciation envers la CARICOM et les autres partenaires internationaux pour avoir facilité la voie à suivre en vue d’une résolution de la crise politique en Haïti. Il appelle toutes les parties prenantes haïtiennes à agir de manière responsable et à prendre les mesures nécessaires pour la mise en œuvre de l'accord afin de restaurer les institutions démocratiques du pays par le biais d’élections pacifiques, crédibles, participatives et inclusives. Les Nations unies, par l'intermédiaire de leur mission, continueront à soutenir Haïti sur la voie menant à la tenue d’élections.  

Le Secrétaire général réitère sa solidarité inébranlable avec le peuple haïtien qui a besoin de sécurité, d'abris, de nourriture, de soins médicaux et de vivre dans la dignité.
