  • 11 Jan 2020 - On this day, we remember the hundreds of thousands of Haitians who lost their lives and the millions gravely affected by the devastating earthquake that struck their country ten years ago. We also honour the memory of one hundred and two United Nations colleagues lost that same day. I will never forget the shock and sadness across the United Nations as we became aware of the scale of the tragedy. 
  • 10 Jan 2020 - This Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of the earthquake that devastated Haiti. The United Nations family in Haiti pays tribute to the more than 200,000 victims, including 102 United Nations personnel who perished while performing their duties. We honour their memories. Let us never forget their lives.   We also pay homage to the countless wounded and over 1.5 million displaced. Their resilience over the past decade is a tribute to the strength and fortitude of the Haitian people.
  • 08 Jan 2020 - The members of the Security Council expressed concern regarding the ongoing political impasse in Haiti.  They reiterated the immediate necessity for Haiti’s stakeholders to engage in an inclusive and open dialogue to form a government that responds to the needs of the Haitian people without further delay.
  • 02 Jan 2020 - The United Nations launches 75th anniversary dialogues:The biggest global conversation on the world's future starts now. January 1, 2020 saw the launch of the UN75 initiative - the largest, most inclusive conversation on the role of global cooperation in building a better future for all. The initiative will see the UN spark dialogues throughout 2020 in diverse settings across the world.
  • 02 Dec 2019 - United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Bruno Lemarquis of France as his Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH).  He will also serve as the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Haiti.
