ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING AND REPORTING
The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) was established by Security Council resolution 2476 and is mandated to promote and strengthen political stability and good governance, including the rule of law, preserving, and advancing a peaceful and stable environment, supporting an inclusive inter-Haitian national dialogue, and protecting and promoting human rights in Haiti. This is a generic VA to establish a roster of available drivers. Drivers may be assigned to any department within BINUH under Individual Contractors Contract (IC).

RESPONSIBILITIES
Within delegated authority, the Driver(s) will be responsible for the following duties:
•    Makes deliveries of parcels, documents, etc, between the office and other offices and institutions, e.g., Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc.
•    Makes minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested.
•    Drives vehicles safely for the transport of the authorized personnel.
•    Meets official personnel at the airport.
•    Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
•    Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery,brakes, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that vehicle is kept clean.
•    PerformsVIP and Standby Driver duties.
•    Assists the workshop in the preparation of vehicles for field trips, such as changing wheels, cleaning air filters, and general check-over.
•    Logs fuel consumption, maintenance etc.
•    Ensures that the steps required by the UN and National rules and regulations are taken in case of accident.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent technical diploma is required. Possession of a valid driver’s license at a B-category or higher is required. Technical and/or vocational qualifications in vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.

WORK EXPERIENCE
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the provision of driver services is required. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of manual vehicles is required.

LANGUAGE
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position, fluency in oral and written French is required.
